Red Tractor is now recognised as a leader in farm data governance by Farm Data Principles Ltd (FDP) (previously the British Farm Data Council).
Following a rigorous assessment of our policies, procedures, and systems Red Tractor has been granted a full certificate.
Red Tractor operates a range of data protection measures, such as limiting the use and storage of member data, encrypting and anonymising sensitive data, conducting regular data audits and reviews, and providing clear and transparent data policies and consents.
These measures ensure that Red Tractor respects the privacy and confidentiality of members and handles their data with the utmost care and responsibility.
Farmers often tell us they are increasingly concerned about how their data is handled. This FDP recognition shows how serious we are to ensure our members data is secure and protected. As technology advances, Red Tractor will continue review and revise our security measures, providing farmers the reassurance that we will always protect their data.
We are back on TV next month doing the important job of explaining the principal purpose of Red Tractor.
This is reassuring shoppers and diners that food and drink carrying the certification mark is farmed with care.
British Sugar is continuing to recognise the value of Red Tractor, by displaying the Red Tractor logo on three new designs of bags of Silver Spoon.
They recently unveiled new packaging for their granulated, caster and icing sugars – all of which hit the shelves this month.
British Sugar is the sole processor of the UK’s beet sugar crop and works in partnership with more than 2,300 Red Tractor assured growers.
Red Tractor is extremely proud to be able to count hundreds of businesses as licensees.
These businesses represent the very best of UK food and drink production, from entrepreneurial businesses to iconic household brands and global service providers.
Using the Red Tractor logo or claim helps highlight the great work our members do to maintain standards on farm everyday. It also gives consumers the confidence that across all sectors Red Tractor products are British, responsibly produced and fully traceable.
Licensing generates more than half of Red Tractor’s total annual revenue – a figure which is growing every year. The deadline for Red Tractor Licensees to renew their annual licence is 31st March 2024. The renewal ensures licensed businesses can continue to make a Red Tractor claim on products, paperwork, marketing materials and websites.

Call for chlorpropham submissions to ensure potato stores stay in use
The CIPC Residues Monitoring Group (CRMG) is calling on UK potato growers and suppliers from all production sectors to provide pesticide residue data from compliance sampling. This will be collected for over 120 potato stores annually to assist in meeting the Health & Safety Executive’s Chemical Regulation Division (CRD) data requirement.
The call comes following the decision made by CRD to set a temporary Maximum Residue Level (tMRL) for CIPC of 0.35 mg/kg from April 2024. It will monitor residues for the product, which is no longer in use in the UK, enabling potato stores that had previously been treated with CIPC to continue to be used safely. Without this data, all stores with a CIPC history risk being taken out of use.
For any growers or store managers who wish to supply residue testing data from potatoes held in stores with a CIPC history, please email adrian@potatostorageinsight.com or contact any CRMG Group member/supply chain.
All data will be submitted anonymously, and you will be provided with a data submission form to be sent in with a copy of your lab result.
